I recently participated in an amazing certification program with Connection Coalition (CoCo) formerly the well known Yoga Gangsters.
Coco works in collaboration with youth organizations to provide access to tools that help calm the nervous system and allow for better decision making with yoga, mindfulness and meditation within marginalized and under resources communities. The Trauma Informed Outreach Training certification allows Coco to add me to their database of volunteers who show up at various sites to create connections through yoga.
During our weekend training, we learned about the different types of traumas and how trauma affects the nervous system. We discussed what triggers these stored memories and were provided tools that help discharge some of the stored traumatic energy helping to regulate the nervous system. Getting grounded to draw energy out of your mind and getting centered to identify your feelings start to happen on your yoga mat.
I set an intention with focus on inner peace and compassion before attending my weekend certification. I came out of it with a renewed love to meet people where they are at in their space. Connections are built around the value and what yoga does for us as we look within to find solutions that are in the silence.
I will use my positive energy, focus and commitment to create a last impression that affects change and makes a difference to everyone that I connect with CoCo!
Namaste committed!
