Permission to Pause

I sit here and reflect on a snow filled day in the beginning of January.

I wrapped up 2025 at a yoga retreat and was reminded that we don’t need to rush into 2026.

During a workshop we were actually asked two key questions that I’ve been reflecting on:

What do you want to bring into 2026?

What do you want to leave behind in 2025?

I found it quite compelling to take a pause to honor the ending and share my notes from our workshop to encourage anyone wanting to experience journaling.

Consider these four areas as you reflect on 2025:

Joys.

What went well? What are you proud of? Where did you experience joy?

Lessons.

What unfolded that didn’t feel in alignment? What did you learn? What challenging times taught you resilience and wisdom?

Support.

Where did your energy get drained? Who or what supported you?

Growth.

How have you evolved this past year? What did 2025 teach you about yourself? Where did you experience grace?

This exercise proved to be very eye opening to me. It allowed me to sit in the pause, recall the challenges that continue to shape my growth and evolution.

I can honestly say now that 2025 taught me that I can move at my own pace, do what I want to do, be more mindful in my approach to life, energy, money and time.

It taught me to let go of the pain, face my fears and continue to open my heart.

It taught me to see love in many different faces, embrace hugs and focus on doing things that make me happy.

It taught me to trust in myself and has given me the surety that I am on my right path.

It taught me to stand tall in my own strengths, to not ignore my shadow and above all, it taught me that we always get what we need!

Now, in 2026, it’s a matter of continued focus, drive, determination and clarity to make it happen.

Have you given yourself permission to pause? I highly recommend it.
